Dear Year 9 Parents/Carers

RAISING ASPIRATIONS EVENT – Tuesday 6th February 2018

On Tuesday 6th February there will be a Raising Aspirations Event for all Year 9 students.  This is an exciting event designed to raise awareness of different progression routes Post-16.  The event will introduce students, via workshops, to 3 different routes in an impartial environment:

•    Further Education/Apprenticeships

•    University Life

•    Different Employment Sectors

The students will get to meet many different employers, education providers and entrepreneurs, exploring the vast array of option pathways open to them in this important year of their education. Professionals will engage with the students offering information and advice in what has become one of the largest career conferences in the South West.

In preparation for the event and to help make the day more tailored to individual interests, students have been given the opportunity, during their Tutor time, to choose 3 industry sectors that they would like to find out further information on. They have chosen from the following sectors:

Sport                                                   Environmental                                 Medicine/Health & Social Care

Construction & Engineering         Public & Uniformed Services       ICT & Computing

Media & Creative Arts                    Hospitality & Catering                   Hair & Beauty

Business Law & Finance

The event is taking place at UWE Exhibition Centre and transport will be provided. Students will need to wear full Academy uniform and be at the Academy ready to leave at 8.25am prompt, we will return at the end of the Academy day.  Students will need to bring a packed lunch and a drink, those in receipt of free school meals will have a packed lunch and a drink provided.
