summer 2016 press release

Bristol Brunel Students have achieved their best ever results with 56% of students achieving English and Maths at grade C or above. Bristol Brunel has performed well in a number of other measures: Progress 8 (the progress students make across 8 subjects) score is 0.08 placing Brunel above the national average of ‘0’ and an attainment 8 (the average attainment of students in their best 8 subjects) score of 4.72, both of these measures highlight the strength across all of the subjects in the Academy.

Bristol Brunel has a traditional curriculum that challenges all interests and stretches the most able students. Of particular note, Bristol Brunel’s most advanced mathematicians have performed strongly in Further Maths GCSE with 90% achieving A*-C and 22% achieving the top grades of A and A*. Bristol Brunel students have also performed exceptionally well beyond the core subjects with Computer Science achieving 96% A*-C and 35% of these students achieving the top grades of A and A*, students have also achieved well in Art and Drama achieving 85% and 93% A* - C respectively.

So many students achieved good grades, some of those students who performed particularly well were; Ellora – 8A* and 3 A’s, Sarah – 5A* and 5A’s and Pavitar – 4A* 4A’s and 1 B

Principal Jon Jones said, “Our students thoroughly deserve these outstanding results, they are our best ever outcomes and we will strive to improve again next year. My colleagues at Bristol Brunel work tenaciously to achieve the best outcomes for every student and we are deeply committed to high expectations and striving for excellence in every aspect of the academy. Our success has been widely recognised by local parents as we continue to be considerably oversubscribed. I look forward to welcoming back many of our students to the Cabot Learning Federation Post 16 in September. I am incredibly proud of all of our students and I wish them every success with their future.”
